Cryolipolysis is a proven non-surgical body shaping treatment that targets the thickness of the fatty tissue. The procedure is non-invasive and can permanently reduce fat in a particular area. The body contouring treatments last for roughly 30 minutes and are done manually employing a massage technique. The session begins with 2 minutes of heat and then a prolonged period of cold (22-26 minutes) and then back to heat for another 2-3 minutes. The purpose of the treatment is to lower the temperature of the fat cells enough to cause what is known as the phenomenon of apoptosis. This phenomenon is triggered when the temperature of the fat tissue is between 12 and 17 C which causes these cells to die. The cells are then naturally passed through the body’s lymphatic system and excreted through sweat and urine.

The treatment per area takes approx 30 mins. If you want several areas treated, this will be discussed during your consultation and a treatment plan especially tailored for you will be discussed.

An antifreeze membrane is placed on the skin area marked out to be treated. This feels cold initially, but is applied to protect the skin from the effects of extreme cooling. A special vacuum suction cup is placed on that area. Inside the cup are cooling plates. The targeted fat is gently drawn up into the cup via a gentle vacuum system, and the cooling is then activated. You will feel a slight pulling sensation and then a cooling sensation. This can be a little uncomfortable to begin with, but your body will quickly acclimatise to this and you can relax with your ipad or phone during treatment. This process is crucial so that the fat cells become crystallised and no longer function, resulting in the breakdown of fat (apoptosis). The damaged cells are eliminated in a natural way through the metabolic system without affecting the surrounding tissues. Most people will notice a gradual decrease of fatty tissue in that area over the next 4 to 6 weeks. Depending on how fast your individual metabolic system works, this can be aided with regular exercise and a healthy eating plan. This treatment does NOT freeze your fat solid like some other similar treatments, it gently draws the heat from the fat cells chilling the area, the procedure is as comfortable as possible.
